Hey there, I’m Cortney
Cortney Lovell is an international leader in recovery coaching. Driven by her personal experience of growth and empowerment through her recovery journey, Cortney is determined to uplift the field of peer services so that others too can discover the value of their experience.
Cortney has spent that past decade working within the evolving field of recovery supports. Clinically trained, Cortney identified early on in her career that her skills were best utilized in cultivating the emerging peer service field. After working nationally to develop recovery community organizations across the country, Cortney co-founded a company to equip individuals and organizations to best support others. As the Co-Founder of Our Wellness Collective and FindRecoveryCoaches.com, Cortney works with systems to uplift the evolving field of recovery coaching and peer services. She has worked with SAMHSA, HHS, CDC, the Office of Women's Services, numerous state agencies, non-profit and private sector entities to support implementation, develop curriculum and offer training to diverse audiences. Some of those developed training's include: the value of peer services, implementing peer services in medication-assisted programs, recovery coach academy for young adults, providing supervision for recovery coaches in clinical settings, and understanding medication-assisted treatment and recovery for recovery coaches.
Cortney resides in the countryside of upstate New York with her two beautiful children and the sweetest old rescue pup. She spends her time enjoying the outdoors with her family and exploring new cultures whenever possible.
The Co-Founder of Our Wellness Collective, Cortney offers consulting services with expertise specializing in recovery coaching. She has consulted for corporate businesses, federal agencies, national and state organizations on a wide array of addiction and recovery related projects.
Cortney has directly trained 100’s of individuals to become Recovery Coaches and continues to support the development of additional trainer’s to expand training opportunities within their communities. Cortney recently brought recovery coaching into Canada and continues to work to expand peer services throughout the Country. She has traveled to Vietnam to train over 30 community workers on Recovery Coaching and collaborated with government agencies to develop a system of care for addressing addiction through the use of peer services.
Today, Cortney is sought out to present on Recovery Coaching and Peer Services. Cortney has presented countless times across the country and around the world. Her thorough understanding of the peer- reviewed data supporting Recovery Coaching as an evidence-based practice, as well as the many policies and practices involved in implementing these services, makes her the foremost leader she has become today. Her command of the art and science behind this technique, coupled wither her personal story allows her to open the hearts and minds of attendees, while inspiring change on all levels.
Cortney is currently serving a two year term as an appointee on the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee for Women’s Services (ACWS) and is on the board of Director’s for Families Together in New York State. She has served on the New York State’s Combat Heroin Campaign, Youth.gov, and the Center for Disease Control. Cortney has been featured in films such as: Refinery29’s “See, Here, Now” “Reversing the Stigma” and “Everywhere but Safe.” Cortney is a regular contributor for addiction stories on HLN’s Michaela Pereira show, and frequently participates in press events, conferences, and ceremonies.
